Rio is an 11 week old male purebred Mini Australian Shepard.
(11 weeks at the time of writing this, Born on May 1st, 2024)
He is a Black-Tri with brown eyes and expected to grow to be 20-30 lbs. I chose him out of the litter specifically for his steady temperament. He does not startle easily and is quite confident. I have put a lot of focus on getting him really well socialized to that he can be adaptable and calm in many different environments. He is a very smart boy who knows his name and responds to the commands of sit, wait/stay, and release (OK!). He is used to a harness and leash and is being crate trained.
He is a super cutie who loves to greet people, including children and he LOVES to play with other doggies. He reads othe dogs well and adjusts to different temperaments.
Rio has had 2 of 3 rounds of vaccinations and dewormer. He is still intact, no microchip yet and still too young for a rabies shot.
Unfortunately Rio is requiring too much attention and energy from me at this time in my life. I am in the midst of several very difficult major life transitions and I have a 5 year old who needs a happy, calm Mama more than she needs a puppy. I am finding out my limitations the hard way. This is my first experience trying to raise a puppy and I didn't realize that I wouldn't have the capacity in my nervous system to do so. I am heartbroken over it but confident we will all be happy in the end.
There are several reasons for this. First of all I made a big investment thinking that Rio was going to be a long term member of our family. He was $2500 from the breeder, then add on various training courses I purchased, vet bills and all of his equipment I am now in over $3500.
I am not looking to recover all of my investment but I DO want Rio going to a home that wants to invest in him as I did and had planned to continue doing. I want Rio going to a home that understands and values this special breed of dog and will take the best care of him. He has so much potential!
I am willing to take generous offers as a show of intent to really care for Rio. and will pass him along with all of his papers and supplies. Supplies include 2 crates one large one small, 2 harnesses, 2 leashes, treat carry bag, poo bags, food bowls, food, chew toys, food puzzles and mats to sleep on.
I have created a website for Rio because classified listings do not allow pet sales as a way of preventing pet theft for sale. I have all of the original sale documents and vet records on hand to verify that I am Rio's legitimate owner.

I will consider this first contact to be an application so please tell me a bit about yourself, your home life, why you want to adopt Rio and any other relevant & helpful information that you wish to have considered. You may also make an offer in that first contact or wait until you have any further info you may need to do so.
Thank you for your kindness and understanding in advance. This has been a very difficult call to make and I have needed to make a quick decision because I know the younger he is the easier his transition to a new home will be. I would appreciate if all communication would honor that this is a tender time for my daughter and I.
